The Wairoa Public Library is on Marine Parade next to the green, and is open 6 days a week.


Homework Help.
The library provides books, encyclopedias and free internet access to assist with homework. The staff are happy to guide children and young adults in the right direction whenever possible.
The Council's long-term purpose in operating a library service is to enhance the social and cultural wellbeing of the Community. This is achieved through the provision of access to literature and other learning resources via books and electronic media.
The library is one showcase for demonstrating how communication knowledge and information sharing is evolving and it is a readily accessible means for all in the community to experience those opportunities.
Improving literacy levels through the encouragement of reading may have positive effects on the long-term socioeconomic status of residents.
The Community benefits from a better-informed and more literate community. Since libraries make information available in the community, many residents value the existence of a library even though they may not use the service themselves. Wairoa Public Library currently contains around 40,000 items.
